Mobile apps make good cities great

AppMyCity! rewards new mobile applications that improve the urban experience, connect people, and make cities more fun, fair, vibrant, and sustainable places.

Convinced that mobile apps can make good cities great, the New Cities Foundation team launched the AppMyCity! at the inaugural New Cities Summit in Paris in 2012.

We’re very excited about awarding its third edition at this year’s Summit in Dallas, Texas. Applications are now open and the deadline is April 18, 2014. The three finalists will be announced on May 6, 2014, and will be invited to the New Cities Summit in Dallas (17 – 19 June 2014) to present their app to a global audience.

The Rules

The app can be from any city and in any language. Students, professionals, and organizations are all welcome to submit apps that meet the three following criteria:

The app must have a clear focus on cities, with an emphasis on fields such as mobility, sustainability, citizenship, retail, art and entertainment, street food, health, water, or any other city-related topic.

The app must have been launched after January 1st 2013.

Updated versions of apps launched prior to this date can apply, but will have to be pre-approved by the New Cities Foundation. Apps in final stages of development may apply as long as final release on a major platform occurs prior to May 5, 2014.

The app must be downloadable on iOS, Android, or Windows Phone. Web-based mobile apps are also eligible.
